I haven't updated my blog since APRIL.....

To be honest, I haven't really been motivated to type much.  Since I'm on vacation for the holiday season, I feel that it is time for an update.

I'm still in Charlottesville working in radio.  Our company recently was sold (the Clear Channel selling of doom hit Charlottesville).  We are now a privately owned company called "Monticello Media".  I still have a job, in fact, there is also a good chance that I will get a raise beginning in 08'.

Mandy and I have been dating now for almost a year.  To be perfectly honest, this is a highly ab-normal situation  for me,  to be actually dating someone this long.  However, I have learned a lot through this journey.  No body said it would be easy, but then again, doesn't all relationships take just a little bit of effort?

My parents decided to get another dog (third).  It's a chocolate lab puppy (6 weeks old today).

Many of you have asked me if I will be at homecoming this year.  Unfortunately, due to prior engagements, I will not be able to attend.  This is the second straight year I have not been able to visit thee ol' Johnson.  The last time I was on campus, I was saying my good-byes as I was moving to a new town the following day.  The closest I will get to Knoxville in the near future will be a business trip to Memphis next month for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  If you are looking for a charity/ good cause to contribute to, I highly recommend St. Jude. (Not to mention that good tax deduction you get on tax day.)

OH...I almost forgot.  There is a new station in Charlottesville that is owned by Monticello Media.  Originally, the station was called "MIX 107.5"....today it is called:

TOM @ 1075  (I tried to cut and paste a logo, but it just couldn't happen)
There playing pretty much anything at anytime (Kind of what "Earl" was in Knoxville...except better)

How dare they???  :)

It was the hardest day in my career.  Giving updates on the tragedy at VA Tech on the air.

That's my home, my family, and my life.

Please pray for VA Tech.

Man, I gotta stop this once a month updating deal..

Things are, as usual, very very busy here in C-Ville.  We hope to know the company that is buying us by next week.  It will be a stress relief to know this, trust me.  Clear Channel has basically said, "hey were selling all of you, we just don't know to whom or when."  It's put a lot of the upper management in a high stress situation.

I'm still dating Mandi.  Things couldn't be better.  She's great, without a doubt the best girlfriend ever.

I have received a lot of great feedback on my "other job"...the afternoon drive slot.  I'm trying really hard, just like in college, to be different.  The problem with "The River", was that I had to be a certain way...and there was so much more I wanted to do.  WIVK was almost the same way.  Basically, my new boss sat me down and said, "Here's the show...do what you want within reason...just be family friendly."

....I've done everything from putting a drunk redneck on the line arguing about his wife....to putting Greg Brown on the air a number of times.....word.

Also, as Music Director, I've learned a whole different side of radio....learning to talk your way through the record reps of Nashville.  Some of them can be my best friends, and for others, I basically have to write a proposal just to get what we need.  Since I was the new guy, the friction with some of these reps has gotten a lot better with time, especially with MCA and RCA records.  Capitol records, however, hasn't exactly been a hope-skip-and a jump.  But, hopefully that will change.

I apologize if this bores you, maybe I should talk about The Adventures of Kenny Shubert and his Bellybutton...that should CAPTIVATE you!!

I took my little brother to see TNMT.  Oh mighty Zack Korff...where have you gone?

And one last note...

I'm feeling like America cares more about whether or not Sanjia gets voted off American Idol...then what's going on with our country (i.e. the little thing called WAR)...I have mixed emotions on this subject, but I fear the worst is yet to come.  The Republicans and Democrats are one big WWE Wrestlemania...you can't trust any of them.  Sorry if that sounds to "liberal" but it's the truth...and the TRUTH SHALLLL SEETT UUUUUU FAAAREEEEE

thanking yeeeeee
